There is nothing mysterious about fate. Today's free will is tomorrow's fate. Cause and effect. The seed I plant today will be the harvest that I reap tomorrow. What makes fate seem so mysterious is that we cannot remember the choices we made in the in the distant past, in this lifetime and perhaps in earlier lifetimes, that are now manifesting in our current experience. Through the mirror of Vedic Astrology, we can see that it is our own patterns that are responsible for what we are now experiencing. Where there is a strong karmic momentum, a strongly carved groove in our consciousness, events will continue to unfold in a similar way unless the pattern is changed. This takes time, energy and discipline. Some karmas can be changed more readily if they are not as strongly conditioned and if we can generate enough energy to create an equal and opposite karmic momentum to mitigate them. Ultimately, we can break free of our conditioning altogether so that we are completely free in the present moment, not bound by past karmas. This is the path of Self-realization that the great spiritual masters have attained and of which we are also capable. Vedic Astrology - Art or Science? It is often difficult for the logical, science-oriented Western mind to understand astrology for it derives from a highly evolved time when people were not left or right brain dominant but they functioned from whole-brain awareness. This integration of the scientific and the intuitive forms the basis of astrology. As a science, Vedic Astrology employs astronomy, mathematical calculations and formulas to organize observable astronomical data into a cogent system of analysis. As an art, it relies upon the intuition of the spiritually attuned astrologer to interpret the symbols accurately in the context of one's life. Before the development of modern civilization, people lived simply, in greater attunement to the rhythms of nature. In modern times, we are buffered from the elements and live removed from the currents of nature. Vedic Astrology puts us back in touch with the energy behind the material realities of our lives so we can make changes at this deeper causal level of consciousness. It helps us to see the causes behind the effects that we are experiencing. Life is a mystery. We cannot possibly know everything that is going to happen to us, nor would we want to. To be open and receptive to the mystery of life as it unfolds in each moment of time is the path of Yoga - living in union with the sacred energy that gives us life, being present and aware in every moment, and responding to life as it presents itself to us in the now. Seeing in the present moment the seeds of our future reality and making choices to sow those seeds with care - this is the path of Vedic Astrology. Vedic Astrology shows us where our garden needs tending so that we can blossom.
